Promoting healthy students and a healthy environment

Exciting activities have been ongoing at the La Hatte school! While the upper level of the school is under construction and coming along very nicely, the students have been busy with activities! On May 30th, a partner organization called Hope For Haiti visited the school and conducted a clinic day for students, teachers, and students’ families. Despite heavy rains that day over 250 people were seen by the doctors at the clinic, getting a variety of general medical assistance from their team of pediatricians, a family doctor, and a pharmacist. Participants even get dental health checks, and the pharmacy provided medications. The day was a huge success, and we are so thankful to Hope For Haiti for coming to La Hatte and making it happen!

In particular, the clinic focused on infant feeding, which in the recent troubled times in Haiti has become more important than ever, to help avoid infant malnutrition. We are proud, with partners like Hope For Haiti, to play our small part in improving the health of our students, teachers, and their families. We hope to have Hope For Haiti back again soon!

The next week, the school hosted an Environment Day for the students. Students got a chance to participate in a variety of activities around the school grounds to learn about the importance of a healthy functioning environment. From school cleaning and groundskeeping, planting flowers, and environmental teaching sessions, the goal is to give the students a sense of pride and connection to the school grounds, while also learning about the beneficial impact a person can have on their environment. By the looks of the photos - everyone had a great time!

We at the Good Samaritan Foundation of Haiti are always very proud and pleased to share everyday good news like this with you, because we know it is made possible by your support over the years. For those of you who already support us, we hope you can feel some of the pride we do to see such successful events and beneficial activities. We are exciting to continue sharing these successes with you into the future, in spite of whatever continued challenges may come. Thank you again for your support!
